03/31/2011. Remarks by Jack McKillop: "This aircraft was built as a Model DC-4 and delivered to the USAAF as a C-54B-10-DO Skymaster, s/n
43-17156 on August 25, 1944. Declared surplus, it was transferred to the Reconstruction Finance Corp on December 18, 1945 and purchased by the US airline Northwest Airlines (renamed Northwest Orient Airlines in 1947) of Minneapolis, Minnesota, registered N9C5414 and converted to a DC-4. It was sold to the Flying Tiger Line of Burbank, California on February 19, 1954 who leased it to Ariana Afghan Airlines of Kabul, Afghanistan registered YA-BAJ in June and July 1957. When returned to Flying Tiger, it was reregistered N95414.

In September 1957, it was sold to the Pacific Western Airlines of Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, registered CF-PWA who sold it to Transair of Winnipeg, Manitoba in 1960, registered CF-TAM. It was sold to Kenting Aviation of Ottawa, Ontario in 1966 registered CF-KAD and the final Canadian owner was Worldways Canada of Toronto, Ontario in 1975.

The next owner was Airmotive Europe on February 19, 1978 who sold it to Hercules Global Airlines in 1978 who stored it at Cairo, Egypt. On May 12, 1978, it was sold to Onyx Aviation of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, USA and registered N32DR. The aircraft was eventually withdrawn from use and stored at McAllen, Texas after being owned by Gritts and Grunts Inc (March 12, 1979), Oklahoma Aircraft Corp. (December 14, 1979), Aeroborne Enterprises (June 18, 1980) and Commercial Aircraft Corp. (January 20, 1982). The aircraft was probably scrapped after 1982."
