03/31/2011. Remarks by Jack McKillop: "This DC-4 was delivered to the USAAF on December 29, 1944 as a C-54B-20-DO Skymaster, s/n 44-9019. Declared surplus after WW II, it was sold to Seaboard & Western Airlines of New York, New York in 1946, registered NC74648. In 1955, it was sold to TALOA (Transocean Air Lines) of Los Angeles, California and then sold to the Flying Tiger Line of Burbank, California.

In June 1957, it was sold to Ariana Afghan Airlines of Kabul, Afghanistan and registered YA-BAH. Flying Tiger bought the aircraft in 1960, reregistered it N74648 with fleet number 407 and then sold it to Trans Australia Airlines of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia on October 22, 1965, registered VH-TAG and named 'Charles Grimes'. TAA operated it until it was sold to Air Siam of Bangkok, Thailand, registered HS-VGY in July 1970. In 1973, it was withdrawn from use and stored at Bangkok before being scrapped at Don Muang Airport, Bangkok in 1986."
