On August 12, 2001, at 1558 eastern daylight time, a Globe GC-1B,
N80917, owned and piloted by an airline transport pilot, sustained
substantial damage when the right main landing gear collapsed while
landing on runway 28 (6,501 by 150 ft, 1,982 by 46 m, dry asphalt), at the
Cherry Capital Airport, Traverse City, Michigan. The 14 CFR Part 91
personal flight was operating in visual meteorological conditions and
was not on a flight plan. The pilot, who was the sole occupant,
reported no injuries. The local flight originated at an undetermined time.
