Holcomb Perigee

05/31/2018. Remarks by Walter van Tilborg: "This Perigee pusher type light homebuilt aircraft was a design of Jerry L. Holcomb of Perigee Associates. It featured a configuration that was very similar to that of the Aerosport (Taylor) Micro-IMP design in which Holcomb also had participated as one of the builders of the Micro-IMP prototype.

The pictured aircraft was initially named the Ultra-IMP, but later it was renamed as Perigee and it differed from the Micro-IMP in having a fixed tail wheel type landing gear rather than the Micro-IMP's retractable tricycle type. The aircraft was built from so called TPG (Taylor-Paper-Glass) material and with a 35 hp Cuyuna 430 two-stroke engine the prototype first flew on April 4, 1987. The Cuyuna was later replaced by a 47 hp Rotax 503 and finally the aircraft was flown with a 65 hp Rotax 532, this engine also planned for production aircraft which were to be available in kit form. Foldable wings were standard on the Perigee and the type was marketed via Aerosport, Inc. However, no further aircraft were built."
