Wood SL-1

07/31/2009. Remarks by Walter van Tilborg: "The SL-1 had an external appearance not unlike that of the Cassutt Special, but it was an original design homebuilt of Stanley Wood of Riverview, Florida, USA.

Wood built the aircraft over a period of 18 months while serving at Luke AFB, Arizona> Powered by a 65 hp VW1600 engine the aircraft first flew on June 8,1973. Later it raced in the Formula V-class listed as number 31, named "Firefly" and wearing a yellow and black colour scheme."
