Nieuport Triplane

10/31/2009. Remarks by Johan Visschedijk: "During 1915, designer Gustave Delage of the Société Anonyme des Établissements Nieuport had fitted a Nieuport 10 fuselage with triplane wings of unusual fore-and-aft geometry for experimental purposes, the arrangement being patented on 10 January 1916. It was test flown from a field next to the factory at Issy-les-Moulineaux, just a few miles from the famous Eiffel Tower, vaguely visible above the wing in this photo. This was the first of the extraordinary Nieuport triplanes, view the second example on page 7834."
