The Aeroplane Photo Supply was a company owned by a Mr. C G B Stuart located in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The firm was in operation from the mid-1940s until 1959 when he had moved to England. We understand the origination of the business was to supply materials used by the allied military to learn aircraft recognition. Later the business was expanded to sell photos to aviation enthusiasts using advertisements in various aviation publications. From information received from the National Air & Space Museum we know that some 30,000 photos were purchased from Mr. Stuart in 1959 when he retired and the business ceased operation. In Mr. Stuart's own words the collection was "systematically collected over a period of 25 years from a number of old-timers who had been collecting for the years prior to my entering the field." It has also been learned that Mr. Stuart sold off in a giant sale, in his own words, "tons" of aviation books.
