04/21/2025. Remarks by Johan Visschedijk: "In 1932 the USN acquired three civil CH-400 Skyrocket light transports, all had minor differences. The first was designated XRE-1 (BuNo. A-8938) and was used for radio research at NAS Anacostia, Washington, District of Columbia

Designated XRE-2 (BuNo. ) the second was a light transport aircraft, also based at NAS Anacostia. Although the three ordered aircraft were allotted BuNos. with an 'A' prefix, only the XRE-1 carried initially the 'A' prefix in the BuNo.

Designated RE-3 (BuNo. 9341) the third was transferred to the USMC in 1933 and modified as a two-litter ambulance, it served at MCAS Quantico through 1938.

From 1935 on the RE-3 operated with an X prefix in the designation: XRE-3."
