Waco CPF D3W

01/31/2012. Remarks by Johan Visschedijk: "The Waco CPF seated a pilot in the rear cockpit and two passengers in the front cockpit, and was powered by a 250 hp Wright R-760E Whirlwind seven-cylinder radial engine. From 1935 on, it was used by the Correio Aéreo Naval (Naval Air Mail) of the Força Aeronaval da Marinha do Brasil (Air Force of the Brasilian Navy), designated D3W, and by its Exército Brasileiro (Brazilian Army) counterpart.

Of the 41 Waco CPF series produced a considerable number went to Brazil, as in 1941, when the Ministério da Aeronáutica (Aviation Ministry) was formed, no less than 27 remaining Army and Navy Waco CPFs were incorporated into the Correio Aéreo Nacional (National Air Mail). Subsequently a number of the type came on the civil registry, serving with aero clubs.

One aircraft is preserved at the Museu Aeroespacial (Aerospace Museum) at Campo dos Afonsos (also known as Berço da Aviação Militar, Cradle of Aviation Military), near Rio de Janeiro."
