Supermarine 349 Seafire Mk.IB

12/31/2007. Remarks by Johan Visschedijk: "Ordered to contract B981689/39 this aircraft was originally built at Castle Bromwich, England, as a Type 349 F.Mk.VC and serialed EN770 it was delivered to the RAF on May 1, 1942. The order for 905 aircraft was built in 132 days (April 6 to September 4, 1942), under wartime conditions a remarkable average of 6.86 aircraft per day.

It was converted to a Type 349 Seafire Mk.IB by Phillips & Powis at South Marston, between February 26 and 28, 1943. It is seen coded AC-B of 736 Naval Air Squadron at Yeovilton in 1942 and was the only Mk.IB without a Volkes filter. The fate of the aircraft is unknown."
