12/22/2006. Remarks by Jack McKillop: "This is the first of two XP-77-BE prototypes delivered to the USAAF; four others were canceled. The aircraft made its first flight of 25-minutes on April 1, 1944, six months behind schedule. The aircraft was extensively tested by the USAAF and found to be slower than the fighter aircraft then in production and the XP-77 program was canceled in December 1944."
