Airbus A318-111

04/30/2012. Remarks by Loet Kuipers: "The Airbus A318 is the smallest member of the Airbus A320 line with a capacity of 107 passengers. It is also the least successful with only 83 sold (June 2010). The project was launched in 1999, and the first flight was made on January 15, 2002, certification was completed in 2003. The A318 is powered by two CFM International CFM56-5 or Pratt & Whitney 6000A turbofans in the 21,600 lb (9,798 kg) to 23,800 lb (10,795 kg) thrust range.

The aircraft is flown by Air France, Tarom, Frontier Airlines, and British Airways, which it intends to use for flights between London City and New York. There are also ideas to sell the plane as a corporate aircraft under the designation A318 Elite. One of these was shown at Le Bourget in 2009."
