05/31/2008. Remarks by Johan Visschedijk: "W4041 was the first British turbojet engined aircraft, it was flown for the first time by P.E.G. Slayer at Cranwell on May 15, 1941. The type is also known as the Gloster E.28/39, Gloster Pioneer and Gloster Whittle, it is preserved at the British Science Museum."
