05/31/2008. This Lancastrian had its outer two Merlin piston engines replaced by two Rolls-Royce RB40 Nene jet engines and was first flown in this configuration by Sqn.Ldr. R.T. Shepherd at Hucknall in August 1946. VH742 made its last Nene test flight in August 1949. |
