04/21/2025. Remarks by Johan Visschedijk: "This aircraft was one of 860 Halifax IIs built by English Electric Co. Ltd. at Samlesbury, some 4 mls (6.5 km) north-west of Blackburn, Lancashire, England. With the serial DT792 it was taken on charge by No. 10 Squadron at RAF Melbourne, some 11 mls (18 km) south-east of York, Yorkshire, on February 3, 1943. It survived only for six months.
On April 5, it overshot on landing at RAF Melbourne and received minor damage, it returned to service on May 7. On a bomb raid over Wuppertal, Germany, in the night of June 24/25 it sustained minor flak damage to the tail, and was able to return to RAF Melbourne. On August 3, 1943 it returned badly damaged during a raid on Hamburg, Germany, it sustained more damage when the landing gear collapsed on landing. It was to be repaired but a second assessment on August 3, 1943, concluded the damaged to serious and after a total of 196 flying hours DT792 was struck off charge."
