Messerschmitt Bf 109 E-4

06/23/2025. Remarks by Johan Visschedijk: "Built in 1939, this aircraft was assigned to Jagdgeschwader 51. On August 24, 1940, it was flown by Oberfeldwebel Fritz Beeck, escorting bombers that were to attack RAF Manston near Ramsgate, Kent, England. Beeck was intercepted the Polish Sergeant Antoni Glowacki of No. 501 (County of Gloucester) Squadron, RAF, flying a Hawker Hurricane (s/n V7234, code SD-A). (Glowacki became an ace that day, downing five aircraft.)

As the engine of Beeck's Bf 109 suffered a massive oil leak, obscuring the view from the canopy, Beeck made a wheels-up landing in a field near East Langdon, ca. 3 mls (5 km) north of Dover, Beeck escaped injuries, but was captured."
