This York was sold to Canada's Maritime Central Airways (MCA), Moncton, New Brunswick, on August 7, 1955 and registered CF-HIP. MCA had won contracts to provide air transportation for 17 of the 42 Distant Early Warning (DEW) Stations being built in the Canadian north and needed the York to haul cargo.
MCA sold the aircraft to Associated Airways in April 1956; this airline was also involved in the construction of the DEW Line. Associated Airways was purchased by Pacific Western Airways (PWA) in 1956 and this aircraft was part of the deal. PWA also had contracts to supply the DEW line sites and continued to do so.
This aircraft was withdrawn from use and scrapped in May 1960."
