Yakovlev Yak-3U/R-2000

09/30/2015. Remarks by Johan Visschedijk: "Avioane Craiova of Ghercesti, Romania temporarily tried to find a small niche market, with the manufacture of replica aircraft. Based on the WW II Yakovlev Yak-3U, this aircraft was built in 2005, powered by a Pratt & Whitney R-2000 radial engine. It was registered N46463 to William 'Bill' E. Whiteside of Windsor, California, USA, in 2005. It participated in the Reno Air Races, listed as Racer number "33" and named "SteadFast". In 2011 it broke the 1.86 mls (3 km) closed circuit world speed record at Historic Wendover Airfield, Utah, at a speed of 416.02 mph (669.51 kmh).

The US registration was cancelled on November 7, 2013 and the aircraft was shipped to Australia where it was registered as VH-YOV to Eastern Fighters Pty. Ltd. of Perth, Western Australia.
