Lockheed 12-A Electra Junior

12/22/2006. Remarks by Jack McKillop: "This aircraft was originally ordered by Varney Air Transport of El Paso, Texas, USA, and registered NC18137 however, Varney cancelled the order and it was purchased by Continental Airlines of Denver, Colorado, USA, and delivered on August 7, 1937. This 12-A was used on the Denver-El Paso routes. It was sold to Transcontinental and Western Airlines (TWA) of Kansas City, Missouri, USA, on September 12, 1940, assigned fleet number 240 and used for high-altitude and weather research.

In March 1945, the aircraft was sold to one of the many companies that owned this aircraft to this day. It has been restored in TWA markings and is currently owned by a Wilmington, Delaware, USA company and makes appearances at numerous airshows in the USA."
