07/15/2006. Remarks by Xavier Saurel: "Right after D-Day both Americans and British built landing strips for their planes. On June 10th, 1944 a few planes landed on the airfield 'B3', of which two of them are particularly interesting.

The first one was a Fieseler Storch. The pilot was General Harry Broadhurst, and the passenger was Sir Winston Churchill. The Fieseler was Broadhurst's personal plane that he had captured in North Africa some months before. The stories we heard say that the plane was painted in a yellow colour with oversized British markings and this may be the plane pictured here.

The second plane was a VB-17G. It was General Spaatz's personal plane named after his daughter "Boops". It had no chin turret but was a G-model. The passenger was Ike Eisenhower. The other planes were Spitfires led by Johnny Johnson to protect the Fieseler. I' m looking for any information (picture, letter, person) concerning those two planes."
