07/21/2007. Harold Caminez invented a revolutionary four-stroke four-cylinder spark-ignition radial engine that produced 150 hp at 1,000 rpm. Caminez was supported by Sherman Fairchild and the Fairchild-Caminez 447 was first flown in this Avro 504 from Farmdale, Long Island, New York, in 1926. Due to excessive vibration the engine was abandoned in 1929. |
