Hawker Siddeley Sea Harrier FRS.Mk.1

01/31/2009. Remarks by Johan Visschedijk: "Photographed during the Falklands War, the Sea Harrier was coming in to refuel on the flight deck of RN HMS Intrepid, on which Neil Wilkinson was a gunner.

On May 27, 1982, Wilkinson shot the Argentine AF Douglas A-4P Skyhawk (s/n C-215), flown by First Lieutenant Mariano Velasco, with an 1.57 in (40 mm) round. The aircraft crashed at West Falkland, Velasco parachuted to safety. Velasco had sunk the HMS Coventry two days earlier."
