03/31/2022. Remarks by Johan Visschedijk: "One of the last types produced under the manufacturer name Auster, the sole J/5V had tail surfaces as used on the J/1U Workmaster and metal instead of wooden wing spars; it was fitted with an 160hp Lycoming O-320-B2B engine. Registered as G-APUW to the Auster Aircraft Ltd. on June 23, 1959, the aircraft was first flown on September 23, 1959.

January 5, 1960, the aircraft was registered to Walter Clarke of Woolton, Liverpool, who participated in the air show held at Kidlington the following May. Of the nearly 100 aircraft that participated, some 25 were Austers in seven variants.

Subsequently G-APUW has been reregistered six times to several more sharing owners. On March 10, 1981, it was registered to a group of five owners, trading as the 'Anglia Auster Syndicate'. Twenty years later the syndicate was disbanded, the aircraft was registered to one of the former members, Elvin Hibbard of Maldon, Essex, on March 2, 2001. Since March 26, 2012, the aircraft is registered to two relatives, Eric and Peter Hibbard."
