11/30/2007. Remarks by John Voss: "This aircraft was built for the USAF as a G-64 SA-16A-GR and was one of three (48-596, 48-597, 48-603) transferred to Department of the Interior (Trust Territory) and operated by PanAm. I took the photo just after a water landing at the island of Ponape, the seaplane facility was a WW II era base developed by the Japanese Navy and still in use as there was no usable airfield on the island."
