08/31/2007. Remarks by Jack McKillop: "This aircraft was ordered by the USAAF as a C-54B-1-DC, s/n 42-72409. It was delivered on January 10, 1945 and immediately transferred to the USN as an R5D-2 and was subsequently used by the USMC. With the introduction of a new designation system in 1962, the aircraft became a C-54P. It was placed in storage at the MASDC at Davis-Monthan AFB, Tucson, Arizona, USA, in February 1972 and was scrapped on December 26, 1974." |
