09/30/2007. This powered sailplane is fitted with "fan pod" power
plant, also known as the Schubgondel SG 85, consisting of two coupled
30 hp Wankel rotating-piston engines driving a shrouded ducted fan.
The pictured prototype uses the wing, empennage and landing gear of
the Caproni Vizzola A 21 Calif, and was first flown January 18, 1972.
Test results obtained were transferred to the development of the
Fantrainer.
