Vickers 802 Viscount

09/30/2011. Remarks by Johan Visschedijk: "This aircraft was produced for the British European Airways Corporation (BEA) by Vickers-Armstrong (Aircraft) Limited at Weybridge, Surrey, UK. Registered to BEA as G-AOHS on January 2, 1956, it first flew seventeen months later, on June 7, 1957, received its CofA on June 21, and was delivered to BEA the following day, named Robert Thorne.

In 1971 it received BEA Scottish Airways titles when BEA experimented with regional divisions, while on July 31 it was reregistered to the British Airways Board, which controlled the merger of four airlines into British Airways that eventually took place on March 31, 1974. A year later, July 11, 1975, the aircraft was deregistered as 'permanently withdrawn from use', and ended its life with the fire service at Rhoose Airport, Cardiff, Wales in December 1979."
