Fairey F.D.1 Delta One

06/03/2003. Remarks by Johan Visschedijk: "Designed as a vertical take off fighter it was intended to be launched from an inclined ramp. Already in the early design stage the Ministry of Supply decided to have it built as a more conventional research aircraft to specification E.10/47.

It was a tiny delta with a span of 19 ft 6,5 in (5.96 m) and long 26 ft 3 in (8 m). Power came from a 3,600 lb (1,633 kg) Rolls-Royce Derwent 8 turbojet. Two more ordered aircraft VX357 + VX364 were not completed."
