Original postcard caption:

Soviet Dirigible Crashes in Arctic

Moscow, Russia. The Russian dirigible V-6, in which thirteen of the crew of nineteen were reported killed following a crash during a practice flight in the Kandalaksha district, Murmansk, Russia, above the Arctic Circle near the Finnish frontier. The six others were said to be critically injured. The dirigible, which was commanded by Gulovantzev, Soviet lighter-than-air expert, was on a trial flight between Moscow and Murmansk, to decide whether it should be flown to the aid of the four Russian scientists adrift on an ice flow in the Greenland Sea.
