06/04/2003. Remarks by Dan Shumaker: "Manufactured in 1938, at the time this photo was taken, this "Staggerwing" was owned by Ross Hadley who used it for airshows and racing. On June 21, 1976 it was destroyed while taking off at Amarillo, Texas, USA in a high cross wind, killing the owner Dave Bezner and his wife."

"Staggerwing" was the nickname of the Beech 17 series.
