Bell 301 XV-15

03/31/2007. Remarks by Johan Visschedijk: "The hover flight of this second prototype was made by Ron Erhart and Dorman Cannon at the Bell Flight Research Center in Arlington, Texas, on April 23, 1979, and the same crew made the type's first transition from hover to forward flight on July 24, 1979. The two 1,800 hp Avco Lycoming LTC1K-4K shaft turbines are simular to the T-53 engines, but have a modified lubrication system to insure proper oil flow when the engine is tilted up.
