Jack McKillop: "The 35 C-39s (Douglas Model DC-2-243) had a DC-2 fuselage and wings with a cargo floor and a DC-3 center section,
vertical and horizontal tail surfaces and landing gear. The aircraft were ordered on June 2, 1938 and were delivered between January and September
1939. These aircraft were assigned to bases and air depots in the US; the four transport squadrons, all assigned to the 10th Transport Group, in September
1939, were:
