Schempp-Hirth Ventus (Wind) 2CT

11/30/2009. The Ventus 2CT is a single-seat all-composite Standard Class high performance glider fitted with water ballast tanks, flaps and retractable engine. Granted the German Type Certificate on October 20, 2000, the Ventus 2CT is the non-self-launching variant of the Ventus 2c.

It was designed for competition in the 59 ft 0.7 in (18 m) span class, although with optional wing tips it can also be flown in the 49 ft 2.6 in (15 m) class. The retractable engine is a 20 hp Solo 2350 two-cylinder two-stroke engine.

The VH-ZBB was imported to Austarlia and registered to the well-known Australian competition pilot, John 'Butch' Buchanan (hence the 'BB' on the tail) on September 14, 2005, three years later, September 25, 2008 the aircraft was reregistered to a new owner.
