The aircraft was transferred to the Mexican airline CMA (Cia Mexicana de Aviacion SA) of Mexico City by PAA, which owned 45% of CMA, and reregistered XA-BJL on March 24, 1938.

The aircraft was sold to the Guatemalan airline Aerovias de Guatemala on November 28, 1940 and registered LG-ACA. This airline was taken over by AVIATECA (Aerolineas de Guatemala Aviateca) of Guatemala City in March 1945. In 1948, the Guatemalan national code changed from LG to TG and the aircraft was reregistered TG-ACA.

This DC-2 returned to the US in June 1952 and was registered N867V and served with three individuals/companies including Johnson Flying Service of Missoula, Montana. It was sold to the Donald Douglas Museum & Library in Santa Monica, California on December 27, 1974 and was repainted as the TWA's first DC-2, NC13711, c/n 1237, and reregistered N1934D on May 1, 1984. This aircraft was flown by the Douglas Historical Foundation until McDonnell Douglas' merger with The Boeing Company in 1997.

It was then sold to the Museum of Flight in Seattle, Washington and moved to Van Nuys, California for completion of the lengthy and meticulous restoration by Museum Trustee and Board Member Clay Lacy, at his facilities in Southern California. When restoration was completed, it was flown from Van Nuys to Boeing Field in Seattle on June 7, 2007. As of this date, the DC-2 is being stored offsite in private facilities and will be moved to the Museum once proper storage and exhibit locations are identified."
