On July 1, 1937, Bombing Squadron Two Battle Force (VB-2B), serving in the aircraft carrier USS Saratoga (CV-3), was redesignated Bombing Squadron Three (VB-3). By June 1938, VB-3 had transitioned to Vought SB2U-1 Vindicators."
