Douglas DC-3A-467 Dart Dakota

11/30/2011. Remarks by Johan Visschedijk: "Built for the USAAF as a C-47B-1-DK, s/n 43-48352, it was transferred to the RAF as a Dakota Mk.IV, s/n KJ829. In 1949 it was allocated to the British turboprop trials, and fitted with two 1,540 shp Rolls-Royce Dart engines the Dart Dakota flew for the first time on March 15, 1950. In 1956 it was purchased by Rolls-Royce and 'Class B' registered as G-37-2. In 1957 it was converted back to a standard Dakota Mk.IV with Pratt and Whitney Twin Wasps engines and registered as G-AOXI. In April 1963 it was sold to Tyne Tees Airways, however it was stored at Sunderland, England and eventually scrapped late 1965."
