Hawker Siddeley Sea Vixen FAW.Mk.22

09/30/2009. Remarks by Johan Visschedijk: "G-CVIX was originally ordered from de Havilland as a DH.110 Sea Vixen FAW.Mk.2 (s/n XP924), however, when it was delivered to the RN on October 16, 1963, the de Havilland name and designation were no longer used as the company had merged into Hawker Siddeley on July 1, 1963. XP924 served with 899 NAS before being retired from frontline service and was subsequently converted to an unmanned drone, designated D.Mk.3.

On retirement in 1991, XP924 was acquired by Gwyn Jones of De Havilland Aviation Limited at Hurn, Christchurch, converted back to the piloted F.Mk.22 version, as such it was registered G-CVIX on February 26, 1996. In 2000 a Permit to Fly was obtained and in 2003 it entered the show circuit in the markings of the Red Bull drinks company. In late 2007 the aircraft was finished again in the markings of XP924/134 of 899 NAS."
