Macchi M.B.326H

05/15/2006. Remarks by John Hopton: "Australia ordered 97 M.B.326H high performance jet trainers, 85 for the RAAF and 12 for the Navy. Aeronautica Macchi (also known as as Aermacchi) produced 21, the remainder were assembled/license-built by Commonwealth Aircraft Corporation (CAC). The first aircraft flew in Italy on February 10, 1967 and was delivered to the RAAF by CAC on October 3, 1967.

A7-008 first flew December 8, 1967 and was delivered to the RAAF February 1, 1968. The aircraft crashed 14 mls (23 km) west of RAAF Base Pearce, Western Australia, due to loss of control in an inverted spin on January 31, 1969. Both crew members ejected and survived, although with injuries."
