Piper PA-18-135 Super Cub

09/30/2011. Remarks by Bart Hoekstra: "This aircraft was produced in 1954 under the USAF serial 54-2425 as an L-21B. Under the Foreign Military Assistance program it became subsequently one of155 PA-18 Super Cubs (59 L-18C, 18 L-21A, 78 L-21B) transferred to the Royal Netherlands Air Force that were used for training, artillery observation and liaison duties; it was serialed R-135.

Struck off charge it came on the Dutch civil register as PH-KNE on May 16, 1979, owner was still the US Government, certificate holder was the Koninklijke Nederlandse Vereniging voor Luchtvaart (KNVvL, Royal Netherlands Aeronautical Association), user was the VCT (Vliegclub Teuge Airport, Teuge Airport Flying Club). The VCT used the aircraft as glider tug and became the owner in 1992. Although registered as a PA-18-135 the aircraft is fitted with an 150 hp Lycoming O-320-A2B engine."
