08/31/2007. Built for the USAAF as a P-51C-10-NT, s/n 44-10947, this
aircraft was sold to
Paul Mantz on February 19, 1946. Registered as
NX1202, and listed as Racer number "46" "Excalibur", and later as "60",
"Houstonian", the aircraft was successful in many races. It was sold
to Charles Blair on May 27, 1952, and registered as N1202, it set a
record time of 7 hr 48 min for piston-engined aircraft in a flight
from New York to London, UK, on January 31, 1951. In 1974 it was
obtained by the NASM.
