Mitsubishi A6M3 Type 0 Model 22

06/05/2005. Remarks by Johan Visschedijk: "Delivered to the Imperial Japanese Navy in July 1943, left in New Guinea at the end of the hostilities, recovered in 1991. Restoration finished in 1998, the Nakajima Sakae 21 being replaced by a 1,250 hp Pratt & Whitney R-1830-75. Paint scheme and markings were also restored, only the US registration, the pilot outfit, and the whip antenna on the bottom giving away that the photo was taken recently and not during WW II. This type is better known by its nickname "Zero"."

04/30/2012. Remarks by Bill Ewing: "This is the "Zero" that Bob Diemert sold to the Confederate Air Force. This photo was taken the day he busted the tail wheel off. From what I heard, the CAF were not overjoyed when his handiwork arrived on their doorstep . . . especially after all the bucks they laid out for it."
