Vickers Vimy F.B.27

04/15/2021. Remarks by Gary Hebbard: "This replica was constructed by Vimy 19/94 Inc. in Sonoma, California, USA and assembled at the nearby former USAF base Hamilton Field at Novato. Completed in July 1994, the aircraft was subsequently operated by Aviation Adventures LLC of Sausalito, California.

It is a replica of the Vickers Vimy aircraft flown by Alcock and Brown on the first non-stop flight of the Atlantic from North America to Europe in 1919. The original took off from St. John's, Newfoundland (then a self-governing colony of Britain), landing in Ireland about 16 hours later. The trip was reenacted in 2005 by this aircraft, flown by pilots Mark Rebholz and Steve Fossett. Fossett, a well-known adventurer and record breaking pilot, would later die in the crash of a light aircraft. This photo taken on their arrival at St. John's International Airport on June 9, 2005. The flight was made successfully a few days later."
