Hawker Siddeley Hunter T.Mk.75

03/31/2009. Remarks by Johan Visschedijk: "Produced by Hawker at Kingston upon Thames, Surrey, UK, as a single-seat Hunter F.Mk.4, s/n WV386, the aircraft was first flown by Hawker's Chief Test Pilot Duncan Simpson from Dunsfold, Godalming, Surrey, on August 12, 1955. It flew with No. 222 Squadron at RAF Leuchars, and No. 229 OCU at Chivenor, before it went to No. 19 MU on March 17, 1959, where it was subsequently stored. On December 10, 1962 it became an instructional airframe (7775M).

Hindustan Aircraft Limited bought the aircraft in February 1971, and contracted Hawker Siddeley at Bitteswell, Lutterworth, Leicestershire, to convert it into a two-seat trainer for the Republic of Singapore AF (RSiAF), known as Hunter T.Mk.75A. Carrying the Hawker Siddeley 'Class B' marking G-9-348 the aircraft was flown in late 1972 and delivered on December 15, it served for nearly 22 years with the RSiAF, carrying s/n 532.

Struck off charge in 1994 the aircraft was subsequently sold to Geoff Moesker of Brisbane, Queensland, Australia, in May 1997 it was resold to Steve Appleton of Boise, Idaho. During 6 1/2 years it was refurbished, fitted with a 'glass cockpit', and an 11,250 lb (5,103 kg) st Avon 208 jet engine. Registered as N81827 it was re-flown on September 9, 2003."
