Douglas DC-3C-S1C3G

03/31/2009. Delivered to the USAAF on September 20, 1942 as a C-47-DL with s/n 41-38630, this aircraft served with the 5th AF in Australia with the Pacific Wing of Air Transport Command between October 26, 1942 and August 11, 1945, initially using the Australian call sign "VHCDR", later "VHCFV". It went to the RFC on April 24, 1946 and was sold to Wien Air Alaska in December 1946, initially registered as NC843, later reregistered as N843K.

On February 28, 1950 it was registered to the Canadian Department of Transport as CF-DOT, being reregistered C-FDOT in 1975. The last years in Canada it served in the pollution patrol role, before its registration was cancelled on December20, 1995, when sold to the USA.

New owners were Harry Thompson and Robert Odegaard, who restored the aircraft, registered it as N1XP on May 14, 1998, and marked it as a North Dakota Air Guard transport with the fake s/n O-93800 (s/n 42-93800 belonged to a C-47A-25-DK).

In 2004 the aircraft was given its pictured colour scheme and was named Duggy, after the cartoon character of the DC-3. The aircraft has played a role in the National Aviation Hall of Fame's SkyReach youth educational program.
