Republic RC-3 Seabee

04/30/2011. Remarks by Bob Cieslak: "This photo was taken at the St. Louis riverfront on the Mississippi River levee. The present day St. Louis Gateway Arch now stands at this location. This seaplane base did a thriving business at that time. They had three airplanes - a Republic Seabee, a Piper Family Cruiser on floats and a Piper J-3 Cub on floats (NC87941). They could take up 1 passenger, 2 passengers or 3 passengers for $5.00 a head - and there was a waiting line for rides. My Dad, Mom and I took a 20 minute ride over St. Louis in the Seabee with a hard splash-down landing in the river. The words on the side of the fuselage says 'PETTY Marine Flying Service'."
