11/30/2008. Remarks by Johan Visschedijk: "Designed by Nicolas Roland Payen the Pa 49 was an exceptional small single-seat research aircraft, first flown by Tony Ochsenbein on January 22, 1954. Of all-wood construction it was built to gather data for a projected light interceptor fighter, its weight was a bare 1,008 lb (457 kg) empty and 1,433 lb (650 kg) loaded. Powered by a 331 lb (150 kg) st Turboméca Palas turbojet it could reach 311 mph (500 kmh). In 1958 it was donated to the Musée de l'Air et de l'Espace at Le Bourget, Paris, France."
