Tupolev Tu-214

09/30/2010. The long-range Tu-214 is similar to the Tu-204-200, but is produced by the Kazan Aviation Manufacturing Corporation, whereas the
Tu-204 versions are produced by Aviastar. The Tu-214 is the heaviest version, and powered by two 35,274 lb (16,000 kg) st Aviadvigatel PS-90A turbofan engines, it can seat. It has an additional door at the side, just before the wing.

The pictured prototype was first flown on March 21, 1996, and it gained the Russian standards AP-25 Type Certificate (harmonized for the first time with foreign standards FAR-25 and JAR-25) in December, 2000. The first Tu-214 went into service with Dalavia in July 2001, and about ten of these airliners are now in service.
